Thursday 13: Favorite Horror Comedies

I’ve mentioned, once or twice, that I’m a fan of horror films.

I have an especially soft spot for comedy-horror. It can go really, really bad–but when it’s good, it’s really, really good. I like the combination of laughter and fear, the way comedy-horror often pokes fun not just at the horror film genre but at our humanity and its discontents.

Here are my favorites:

I’m not a fan of horror movies (for very obvious reasons) but I can remember when I laughed and screamed at the same time with a couple of Asia horror/comedies that I (surprisingly) liked — Pee Mak (Thailand) and Hello Ghost (Korean) — just thought you might be interested. Might start watching some movies on your list soon..with company, of course. 🙂

Interestingly enough, I had never really thought about comedy-horror as a genre, but seeing all of those movies collected together, and realizing that I love every single one of them, has made me see the light! I, too, love comedy-horror! 😀 (That is a wonderfully awesome list you have there!)

Oh, I love comedy-horror! It’s such a fun, weird sub-genre. Another you should add to your watchlist if you haven’t is Cooties. Zombie outbreak at an elementary school. Really funny.

Really great shouts, can’t wait to go to Rocky Horror live again this Halloween! Would you be interested in turning this into a list and sharing it on by chance?
