    I collect cookbooks and already knew it because “lagniappe” is a favorite word for Louisiana-based cookbook titles.
    I agree with Mark Twain … Great word.

      It is a great word! I hadn’t thought much about it, since I don’t do much cooking, but it makes total sense that you’d find the word in cookbook titles!

    I’m already loving these series Diana. We use this word in the Caribbean as well and I suppose it’s credited to our French Creole history. Here in Trinidad it’s usually used to describe a baby that comes years after the ‘last’ child. It’s common in my own extended family with the largest age difference being 20 years between the second to last and the ‘baby’.
